Setting
Everyone out in the open. Peace. Prosperity. Freedom. Danger. Dragons. This is Alagaesia, though with two key differences: Galbatorix is not a murdering madman, and the Fall never happened. The Elves are out in the open, living wherever they please, and the Dwarves are not hiding in their caves. There is no such country as Surda. Shades roam the land, and Urgals stay in the Spine, killing any who trespass. This is Alagaesia without the unbearable taxes on its citizens, without poverty, and with reigning peace. People are able to make lives for themselves, and if someone looks up in the sky, they will likely see the glistening hide of a mighty Dragon.
The Elven Nation, the Broddring Kingdom, and the Dwarves are all at peace with each other, and consider each other to be allies, though they aren’t always too trusting of each other. The Elven Capitol is in Ellesmera, still deep in the Du Weldenvarden, though they allow people to come and go as they please, provided there is no harm done to the ancient Forest. The Broddring Kingdoms capitol is Ilirea. Their empire is open to both the Dwarves and Elves, and their king controls the Dragon Riders. The Dwarves operate out of Farthen Dur, their majestic city mountain, in which resides many Dragons and their Riders.
The only real threat to peace is the Urgals, who are increasing raids all along the Spine, and the Shades, who can devastate entire towns before the Riders can bring them down. Shades are rare, but when they are spotted, everyone tries to get as far away as they can, and warn the Riders.
So, what will you be? A mysterious Elf, a ever practical Dwarf, a short-lived Human, or an ancient Dragon? Or will you be an Urgal, fighting to gain honor and land, or maybe a Shade seeking to gain power and rule everything for itself? Go forth, join us, and make your choice.
