A young man sat up in his bed as he felt the soft prod of another mind. Time to wake up, Roy. There is also a Breakfast in the kisten for you. You better get up before it becomes cold. a calm male voice whispered into his mind. The young rider sighed, Okay. Okay, Soreth. I am up. Roy rubbed his eyes before getting off his bed. He scanned the 45 feet wide room and picked up tan pants and a white tunic which he easily slipped on. He then got on his leather shoes before walking out of his room toward a table.
His blue eyes spotted the steaming eggs, toast and some roast chicken. Finishing his morning meal quickly, Roy sighed before heading outside. Fingering his brown hair, the training rider blinked at the town that is set up for riders to come and train.
Okay, I am outside. Soreth, where are you? Roy said to Soreth's mind. Stay right there, Roy. I am heading toward you. Roy got the message and waited for Soreth to show up. After a few minutes of waiting, a huge red dragon glided closer and circled above Roy who smiled as he saw his dragon partner. Over the month, Soreth has grown to his full height and his relationship with Roy has been linked fully. Roy and Soreth's minds are linked together forever.
Roy backed a few steps before Soreth landed and folded his grand wings. The yellow eyes of Soreth stared down on Roy with love, calmness and patience. Reaching up, Roy patted the muscular neck of Soreth who rumbled softly at the soft touch. Soreth then lowered his head so that Roy can pat it. Roy, I am glad that your awake. I am also glad that we are still together. Everyday, my yearning to be with you grows greater and greater. the huge, red dragon sighed before doing a soft nuzzle that barely bumped Roy. Roy nodded, I also yearn for you, Soreth. I will never be apart from you. You and I are brothers and we should never be parted. Never. Roy said to Soreth before he stared around him. Soreth, do you know where we are training at with Jacob and Vervada? he asked his partner who said. I have the slightest clue, like you have. We should wait, I think. answered Soreth.
Over the past month Jacob and his red, female dragon have been Roy's and Soreth's instructors. Roy nodded to Soreth before waiting for a message by mind for where he has to meet his instructors.

Jacob woke up after a long night; he still hadn’t gotten used to sleeping in the dragon sized city on Vroengard. Vervada…where are you He stumbled out of bed rubbing the sleep from his eyes and then looked at the time. Crap….I’m late. He found a pair of pants and then found a blue tunic to put on, but waited until after he had taken a quick bath to put them on. Somewhere in the middle of all of this Vervada answered him that she was out getting ready to train Soreth. That meant that they were going to be training separately today.
Where do you want Soreth to meet you? he asked as he stepped outside. Have him meet me and the south shore of the island…tell him to be prepared. That made him curious about what they were going to do, but that was something she blocked from him. He just sent her acknowledgement. He stepped outside of his house, and then searched with his mind for Roy and Soreth.
Roy, when you are ready meet me in the hollow a mile behind the Great Library. Soreth, you are to meet Vervada on the southern shore….she didn’t specify where. She did say be prepared. He withdrew from their minds and took off running toward the place he had told Roy to meet him, as it was even farther from his quarters to the clearing for him to run than it would be for Roy to run. Oh well I need the exercise. Soreth should be on his way Vervada. Be sure to keep tabs on what I’m teaching Roy…just like was done to us we will do to them…after the lesson they need to answer questions about what the other one learned.

Roy and Soreth nodded once they got the message from Jacob. Roy patted the huge head of Soreth, "Well, I will see you later." Roy said to Soreth who said, "Yeah, I will see you later as well. I am quite interested on what we are gonna to learn today." the huge male dragon said before taking to the sky and following Jacob's message. "Me too, Soreth. I will see you later, but I don't know when that is. So, see ya later." Roy thought stepping back and started to head to the clearing where Jacob told him to meet.
Roy sighed before quickly walking over to the Great Library and went to the clearing after a great, mile walk. He found a rock to lean against as he waited for Jacob to come in. His blue eyes blinked as she threaded his hands through his brown hair. His eyes blinked as she waited for his instructor to show up.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, Soreth glided over the trees to the southern sore and felt his rider's mind and seemed to humor it. He really liked the kid. Roy has some unique personalities, but he is really kind and talkative.
Soreth's wings flapped his huge, sail-like wings to gather some speed before circling the southern shore. His yellow eyes blinked as she he searched for Vervada's form. He tail lashed a little when he grew closer to the treetops as he kept on searching. Soreth is also ready for anything to happen.

Vervada had hidden herself quite well for a dragon of her age and size. She watched as the younger dragon Soreth fly around, searching for her. At least he looks like he’s ready for anything. She waited for perhaps half an hour, biding her time and watching his movements but keeping her entire body still. Patience was a skill that had been hard for her to learn, but once she had learned it, it had served her well.
Soon though, she grew tired of waiting and waited until the younger dragon had turned his flight path away from her again before she took off, swiftly and silently. She flapped her powerful wings until she was a good five hundred feet above him and then dove, roaring loudly. As she dove she projected her thoughts to Soreth. Soreth, today we will be working and fighting skills…both mental and tooth and claw. If I have gained a position that would easily result in a killing blow I will let you know and you will yield. If you do the same to me I will let you know and I will yield. We are not fighting to hurt, we are fighting to teach you how to protect yourself.
------------------------------------------------------
Jacob had stopped by the armory before coming to the clearing to pick up a sword for Roy to use. He quickly flicked his mind toward Vervada to see what she was doing and saw that she had already decided to attack Soreth. It seems as though we both had similar plans after all. He soon reached the clearing and beckoned Roy over. I know you have said you were good with a sword before, and I’ve taken it on faith until now. Now though, we will cross blades. First though, I will teach you how to block your blade so that it will not cut, but we'll will still have to be careful as the swords can still easily break bones.
He handed Roy the sword he had brought with him and then drew his blade, Wyrda. Now watch, your block will be slightly different than mine. He held up the blade and placed his thumb and forefinger about a centimeter apart on one edge of the blade and whispered the spell he needed. Gëuloth du knífr. He ran his fingers down one edge of the blade and then flipped the blade over and repeated the process. He then had to do the same again on the other side of his sword, since it was a double edged blade. He was one of the few in the riders ranks that preferred fighting with such a sword. To demonstrate he slashed his hand with the blade, but it didn’t cut. The words you will use are Gëuloth du knífr. In this language they mean dull the knife. Practice them first before you try to make the block. I will let you know when you have pronounced them right.

Soreth flew over the treetops. He knew that Vervada is anywhere, but he cannot see her. His yellow eyes blinked as she scanned the ground. About half hour passed, he heard wing beats below him and saw Vervada coming at him. He hissed in shock as she dived at him. He ducked from her claws, if she decided to attack.
He heard the female voice seemed to sigh. His huge head shook slightly before he turned to Vervada. Okay, I am ready for anything. he said to Vervada as his muscles tensed to show his readiness. His wings flapped and readied for his lesson to start. He is already to show her what he can do. His yellow eyes sparked with energy. His wings flapped softly as he stayed in one spot of the sky.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roy's blue eyes blinked as he saw the gesture from his teacher to come. He heard Jacob's instructions and felt interest in his new lesson of the day. This spell is definitely new to his mind. He took the ordinary sword that Jacob gave him. Roy a blade. His blue eyes studied the edge and nodded as he saw it to be sharp. Over the years, while he hunted, the young man could see easily if the blade he has is sharp or dull.
Roy heard the weird words that Jacob used to dull his blade. (Huh, never heard those words before.) the few month old rider thought. His blue eyes blinked curiously as he memorized the words quickly. Roy blinked again before focusing on pronouncing the words right. Roy kept saying it on his head until he thought he might have it. It took about a few minutes until he thought of how to say the spell properly. "Gëuloth du knífr." he said before looking at Jacob. "Is that the right way to pronounce it?" he asked his instructor with interest.
He wanted to make sure that he said it good enough to use it on his sword "I have another question. How long does this work on the sword? Will it last minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks?" Roy asked as his ears and mind opened to listen to Jacob's answer.

You’re ready for anything huh Soreth? As soon as Vervada finished speaking she attacked him with her mind, battering at his defense and trying to find a way through to take control. This was a skill he must master, both as defense and offense. A few seconds later she slammed into him, fighting him with her claws and teeth as well as her mind. This was the way she had been taught, and why she was better than most other dragons at fighting. She had been taught to use her mind as a weapon even while she was using her claws and teeth. She wasn’t given any time to learn the skill, she was simply told to learn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jacob nodded at Roy. Yes Roy, you have it right. Go ahead and block your sword. To answer your question you will have to remove the block every time you use it, for the block will last forever. With that he stepped back and stuck the very tip of his sword in the ground, then started walking in a circle, mumbling words in the ancient language as he walked. When he reached the point from which he had started, a diameter of about 14 feet, the entire circle flared red, the magic taking effect. After he was satisfied that the barrier would hold he transferred the spell to the stone in his sword, knowing there was more than enough energy there to sustain it for weeks. Okay Roy, this circle we are in has a purpose. Try stepping out of it. You will find that you cannot. The purpose of this is to teach you how to fight when there is nowhere and nothing you can use to your advantage besides your skill with the blade. Sometimes this skill is the difference between life and death. Every time you touch this barrier it will give you a small shock, not to cause harm, but to let you know that you are against it. I want you to try to stay as close to the center of the circle as you possibly can during this practice. Do not swing full force blows at the neck, head, or joints like the elbows or knees. The swords may not be able to cut, but they can still easily break bones and a blow to the neck can still kill. Understand?

I am as ready as you are. he answered Vervada's questio with a loud hiss. He quickly built a wall to defend his mind with when Vervada attacked. The red dragon's face scowled as he fought to stop Vervada's mind from invading and taking over. Suddenly he did a soft roar, as Vervada slammed into him. Flapping his wings, Soreth grimaced before smacking his tail into Vervada's face. He then easily dodged the claws before howling at the bite that Vervada gave him. Snarling at the attack, he lashed out teeth at the female dragon and grasped his teeth into Vervada's leg. Shaking his head back and forth slightly, not wanting to hurt his teacher, Soreth let go of the leg. Lashed his tail at Vervada again, before putting distance between her and him. Breathing heavily, he kept up a wall to block out Vervada's mind. That was fun and interesting. I should say your good at fighting, Vervada. Soreth said in a polite voice, before shaking his head at the throbbing pain form his minor wounds.
----------------------------------------------------
Roy blinked and said,"Gëuloth du knífr." over his sword. He then felt the dull edges of the sword and was still a bit surprised that it worked. Looking up again, Roy blinked as he heard that the block will last forever. The very young rider nodded at the info.
He stopped as he heard Jacob murmur on and on as he walked a 14 feet long circle around his sword and Roy. Blue eyes blinked in interested as he stood on the spot, not sure if he should listen and learn. After a short amount of period of time, Roy heard his teacher's instruction and nodded politely.
"I guess we are practicing sword fighting." Roy said politely to Jacob. It sort of felt weird to do this in an enclosed place. The young man is really used to sword fighting in the wilderness. Okay, I can do this. I can do this, Roy thought over and over again. He also felt the mental nudge from Soreth as Roy blinked at Jacob.
"Okay. I am ready for a mock fight. Do you have any tricks to show me?" Roy said as he gripped and relaxed his hold on the sword's hilt. He started to feel energy build up in him as he readied for a Jacob to start challenging or teaching him.
