Summer’s eyes scanned the horizon as she and Zircona flew. They had left earlier that morning from Ellesmera and were supposed to be going to Ceris. Each day they were traveling city to city until they reached Doru Araeba. Zircona could probably make the flight continuously with little pause, but they were bring careful. Plus, along the way sometimes, Eridor was supposed to be joining them. She stretched out her legs, her mind filled with all the wonderful thoughts or possibly meeting new people. ’Careful there little one. You didn’t tie your legs down this morning.” Zircona spoke to her through their bond. As she leaned to the left to make sure Summer didn’t fall off. ’Thanks. Almost forgot, but it’s useless now. We are almost there anyways.’ They were flying above the forest lines, so they could go easier. At first they had started out walking, but the walking soon grew boring. Summer looked over the side of Zircona, watching as the trees skimmed by below. She pointed down to a particular group of trees showing Zircona the mental image of the landing outside the trees that would have the best entrance to Ceris. Zircona banked to the right and started flying down. When her feet touched the ground, Summer hopped off. She rubbed her dragons shoulder and smiled at her. ”I actually have some relatives who live here. They should let us stay with them for the night.” It was only a little after noon, but both of their stomachs were already growling. Summer took her stuff off of Zircona’s back before her dragon took off into the air once again. ’I will be back in an hour. The hunt awaits me.’ Summer started opening her bag up to look at the food she brought with her. ’Of course. I shall leave you in peace. Don’t worry.’ She heard the start of a protest. ’I have my bow and arrows, dagger, and rider sword. I am much capable of fighting off someone. Plus a little magic won’t hurt.’ ’Okay then. I will listen for your cries though just in case.’ With that Zircona clicked out of their telepathy. Summer sat down on a patch of grass and started to munch on an apple. She flooded magic to her ears and eyes. Her sense of sight became sharper and her sense of hearing became louder. All the more better to hear and see. Of course, just then she heard a sound. Her head whipped around trying to pinpoint it.[/blockquote] words; 420 muse; Pretty good ^.^ notes; Finally started this xD tags; Rayalen outfit; here lyrics; all alright - fun. credits; template by twilightbright @ caution

Rayalen smiled as they flew through the air. This was the only time that she was truly happy, if you could call it that, but she loved being up in the sky, so far away from anything and everything that caused her grief. She looked ahead briefly, and then at the back of her dragon's head. "Shura, where are we going exactly?"
She heard the dragon's chest rumble, as if he was chuckling. His all so familiar voice echoed in her mind. "Shura talk"
The dragon continued flying, and Rayalen held on to the numerous spikes that lined Shura's neck. "Well, how far away are we?"
"Quite a ways my dear."
Rayalen sighed and nodded, even though of course the dragon's eyes weren't looking at her. Suddenly Shura's voice was in her mind again, this time he sounded concerned, "Rayalen, if you need a break I can land."
She shook her head. No way. She didn't want to slow down the progress of the trip. Shura felt her emotions and thoughts on this of course through their bond, and he sighed, "Rayalen, if you need to we an take a break. I know you aren't accustomed to traveling such distances all at once."
After a moment of silence she nodded. "Very well, but only for a few minutes ok? Just long enough for me to stretch my legs."
The dragon nodded, and began his descent. As soon as they landed, the girl slid off Shura's back and stretched. "I'm just going to walk for a bit, ok?"
Shura eyed her curiously. "You want to go without me?."
Rayalen sighed. "Not really...but you can't fit through the trees."
The dragon huffed and nodded. "If you need me call, and I'll FIND way to you. Even if I have to knock down every tree in the forest."
Rayalen couldn't help but smile at that. She walked over and wrapped her arms around her dragon's neck, carefully avoiding the spikes. "Oh, trust me, I will."
With that she turned and walked away through the woods. She kept her mind blank. Thinking too much is always a bad thing for her. She tends to get stuck on bad thought processes, and that can get bad fast. So she walked. She focused on the pattern of the leaves that had fallen. "Silly humans, finding patterns in things that aren't there."
Shura's voice was in her head again, and she smiled but didn't respond. Something else had caught her attention. There was a girl, and she was sitting by herself. The girl had her back to Rayalen, and Rayalen quietly moved in closer. She had grown up in the woods, and had learned from a young age how to move through the woods and never make a sound, even on the driest bed of leaves. "Rayalen! Don't go over there alone!."
Through their connection Rayalen felt Shura taking off and coming towards her. She shook her head, "It's fine, it's just a girl."
There was a snort in her head, "Looks can be deceiving. Please just be patient and wait for me to get there."
Rayalen shook her head, and moved forward. But she wasn't paying attention to where she was going, her curiosity had gotten the better of her, and she stepped on a stick, and the cracking sound resonated through the nearby forest. The girls head snapped up and around, and Rayalen sighed. She'd been seen now of course, so she took a few steps forward. "Rayalen!! Why don't you ever listen to me!?."
Rayalen smirked at the voice but ignored him. Instead, she looked at the girl sitting ahead of her. "Oh, I'm sorry to intrude...I didn't think anyone would be out here..."

When Summer spotted the girl, she stood up cautiously. The gracefulness of the elves coming naturally to her. Her eyes scanned the girl for any weapons. But before she could get much further, she saw the mark of a rider on the girls hand. She smiled and nodded her head. "It is perfectly fine. I was just resting for a bit."
She nodded towards the girls hand and spoke in ancient language, unaware if the girl could understand her or not. "Eka aí fricai un Shur’tugal." It was quite obvious to Summer that this girl was a human. She didn't have the appearance of an elf, so in speaking the ancient language she wasn't sure if she understood. Just then, she felt the brush of Zircona's mind on her own. Zircona had finished her hunt and was now circling back. From the contented growl she rumbled in her thoughts Summer could only believe that she had hunted a deer. Sensing the presence of someone near Summer she heard her dragon give another growl. "Who is this girl with you? Is she a threat?" Summer smiled through her bond and sent an image of her to Zircona. "I have not yet found out her name. But she is a fellow dragon rider. I do not see her dragon near though I do feel his presence as I'm sure you do. Perhaps you should either find him or come back in case he finds you a threat." She felt Zircona thinking and it was a few seconds before she agreed to fly on back. She wouldn't want to find another dragon. It could take too long. Meanwhile, Summer started up her conversation again with the girl. "You do understand the ancient language right? Or shall I put it as, how far along are you in your training?" If she would've seen the girls dragon, she would've known right away. But since she could see him it was best to ask. She felt herself straighten up a smudge as Zircona circled up ahead. Zircona turned her wing to the side and started her slow dive to the right. When she landed, she landed slightly to the left and behind Summer she eyed the girl warily for a moment before tucking her wings into her great body and folding herself down next to Summer. She was pretty much at full grown size, and she wondered how big this other male was. "May you ask her if I can enter her mind so I can speak to her and you at the same time instead of speaking through you?" Summer nodded and smiled up at her dragon. Resting a hand on the blue foreleg she turned back to Raya. "Do you mind if Zircona here speaks to you in your mind? Don't worry, she won't delve into your thoughts or anything." She looked at the girl curiously. She had only ever seen riders who were humans rarely. But that was because she lived her whole liven in a elven city. Riders only came through if they needed a sword. Even then it was a rare occurrence. [/blockquote] words; 569 muse; Pretty good ^.^ notes; Finally replied! Rayalen nodded in understanding, glad that she hadn't interrupted anything, and she was about to reply in kind when the girl spoke another language, that she just didn't understand. "I'm sorry?"
Suddenly Shura spoke in her mind, "Rayalen! There is another dragon, she seems to be heading towards you."
Rayalen heard Shura's words and paled. Another dragon? Why would there be another dragon? Then the girl spoke again, asking about the ancient language and training. Ancient language? Training? Rayalen was confused. She shook her head and took a step back. "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're asking..."
She was going to ask further questions to try and understand it all, when the new dragon suddenly landed behind the girl. At the site of another dragon, especially such a large one, Rayalen took several steps back, that is until she stumbled and fell. Even then she slid backwards, wanting to put as much distance between this large dragon and herself as possible.
Speak to her in her mind? Was this girl crazy? "No! No way! I don't want her in my head."
"Rayalen! Don't worry I'm coming."
Rayalen continued to scramble backwards until she hit a tree. For a split second she considered the fact that she was probably over reacting. It was obvious that not all dragons were bad, heck, Shura was her best friend, but in her head she just kept seeing the white dragon from her past killing her father.
Then Shura was there, he landed easily, just in front of her in a protective stance. He watched the other dragon carefully. She was by far larger than himself, as he was still not even a year old, but he couldn't allow Rayalen to be as frightened as she was.
But then he noted that the larger dragon was just settled behind the other girl. She was a rider. He sighed and stepped back, out of the way to allow Rayalen to view them. "This is a dragon rider, much like yourself...although much more experienced."
Rayalen stood up slowly and walked over to Shura, who nudged her gently. She watched the large dragon carefully. Zircona? Was that what the girl had said? She turned her attention back to the girl who still stood nearby. "You're a dragon rider?"

Summer stood there confused for a moment as the girl backed up from Zircona. Couldn't she tell that the dragon was Summer's? But then again...she didn't even know the ancient language. Or have any training. Or even know what Summer was talking about. She gave a sad small sigh as the girl yelled at her about not letting Zircona speak in her mind. She held up her hands in surrender. "Relax. She doesn't mind. She understands that you are new to this."
"Yes. But now communication is going to take forever. Wait...her dragon is coming. I can feel it." Summer looked up to Zircona who was watching the sky. She knew her dragon would protect her if the other one was a threat. She turned back to the young girl, just as the black and white dragon fell out of the sky in a protective stance in front of the young human. Summer bowed gracefully to the dragon. She always showed them respect no matter their age. And it seemed he was still in his first awkward stage. He was probably only a yearling if that. "It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance young...?" She trailed off hoping that he would get the hint about asking his name, and showing that she was fine with him speaking to her. She peeked up to Zircona as she stood. Her dragon was radiating her joy at meeting another dragon. For good reason too. They hadn't seen another dragon in awhile. Well apart from the Elder dragon who was flying with them to the rider city. "Hello there! Would you please explain to your rider that I mean her no harm and would greatly appreciate if she allowed me to speak into her mind. It is much simpler than going through my riders mind. My name is Zircona Tanit. This is my rider and best friend Summer Telemmaite." Dragons never asked each other about entering each others minds. They just did it since they had no other way of communicating. Summer nodded and gave a small smile when the dragon backed off its protective stance. Rayalen looked to Summer with shock and asked her about being a rider. "Yes. I am a rider. Not only that. But an elven rider." She pulled her hair slightly behind her ears to show her pointed ears. With a small laugh she let her hair drop back. It was always nice showing people exactly what kind of rider she was. Especially humans. Some have never seen an elf so they reacted with awe. While others had and reacted with her respect or indifference. It really depended on what they thought about the elven race. "In the ancient language earlier, I said 'I am a rider and a friend.' Nobody can lie in the ancient language. And I almost forgot! My name is Summer Telemmaite. Where were you headed? Because I am headed to Rider city to improve my training. You might want to join me and Zircona so that you can learn the ancient language and more about the dragons and their rider." She gave her a smile, hoping that the uneasiness that was radiating from the girl disappeared soon. It unsettled the rider.
